The new selection of makeup palettes is perfect
for the modern miss. I’m not sure what we keep in
our bags, but they’re always full and we never have
the space to carry a multitude of different products.
Nor do we have the time to hunt through them every
time we need to apply or retouch our makeup. And
of course we can’t carry a lot of products when we fly
any more.
Fortunately, cosmetic companies are tending
to our needs with a plethora of convenient, space-
saving palettes. Here are the best of the best. bella
Lancôme Colour Focus Palette , $75, is four eye
shadows in a snappy black container with a mirror and
two brushes. All the colours can be blended together,
wet or dry depending on your desired intensity, to
colour, contour and line the eyes.
Smokey Eyes by Pop Beauty , $59.95, is sold
exclusively at Kit stores and comes in a smart leather
case. The 12 eye liners and lid finishers look a bit like
a set of pastels set out in a row, and also come in
brown, blue and green eye sets.
GuerlainOmbreÉclatEyeShadow ,$95,contains
four eye shadows, a mirror and two brushes.
Palette Pop by YSL , $88, has a unique Pop art floral
design by St Laurent himself on the shadows, which
effectively allows you to make almost any variant of
each of the colours on the face and cheeks.
The Hopeless Romantic Quickie Chronicles
by Too Faced , $59, is a two-layered palette in a
penny romance-like format that contains four eye
shadows, four lip glosses, two blushes, a duo bronzer
and a highlighter powder and is completed with two
double-ended brushes.
Clarins Summer Fever Lip Colour Palette ,
$49, is a stylish bronze compact with six lip colours,
a brush and a mirror. Funky dots of sheer metallics,
romantic florals and flashes of neon give you texture,
sheen and fresh colour.

Antioxidant HydraMist , $65.50, provides flash-
firming properties and intensely hydrates the skin.
Lancôme
Primordiale Nuit Skin Recharge , $137, is the latest
addition to the Primordiale range. The night moisturiser
helps to treat free-radical damage and renew the
skin’s surface.
Photogenic Lumessence Light Mastering
Smoothing Makeup , $75, gives the skin a youthful
glow with extreme hydration, diffusing light as it hits
the skin.
Clarins
The new HydraQuench range launches in May and its
focus is, as the name suggests, continuous, made-to-
measure hydration for extreme climates.
HydraQuench Cooling Cream Gel , $74, takes the
heat out of warmth and humidity.
Kiehl’s
A panel of Kiehl’s dermatologists collaborated on
this unique range of products to treat every type of
skin problem.
Centella Skin-Calming Facial Cleanser , $54, is
an alcohol, dye, fragrance and soap-free cleanser for
sensitive skins.
Elizabeth Arden
The Allergan/Elizabeth Arden Prevage range has been a
standout from day one.
Prevage Anti-Aging Night Cream , $200 for 50ml,
