Celebrity Ambassadors are ‘In' for Cancer Council's Girls Night In!
September 2011: Model Erin McNaught, fashion designer Leonia Edmiston and TV presenter Laura Csortan all have one thing in common; these three women are coming together to ask girls all over Australia to support the fight against women's cancers this October.
The Girls Night In ambassadors are just a handful of the 200,000 wonderful girls who will swap a night on the town for a Girls Night In to fundraise for Cancer Council. By getting involved you will showcare and support for around 17,000 women - friends, grandmothers, mothers, sisters, aunts, daughters and friends who will be diagnosed with cancer in this year.
Television Presenter Laura Csortan says, "I became involved with Girls Night In as I can think of no better way than getting a group of my favourite Gal Pals together to help raise money for woman's cancer research. How amazing, gathering girlfriends together to help fight an illness that has effected so many women just like you and me."
Cancer Council's Girls Night In is all about having 'me-time' with the girls, without pressure - what you do is your choice. So whether it's a fancy dress party, a girlie karaoke night, a swap shop fashion night in, or just a quick catch up with the girls, we need your support to help us fund Cancer Council's research, prevention, information and support services for all women's cancers (i.e. *ovarian, cervical, vaginal, uterine, vulvar and breast cancers).
"Girls Night In is all about having a much needed catch up with your girlfriends, whilst sharing knowledge, information, and supporting each other. It's all the things women do best, while helping fund cancer support services such as our Helpline, emergency financial assistance for patients, and a special program to help people live well after cancer," said Gillian Batt from Cancer Council's support services.
All money raised from Girls Night In will help Cancer Council in many ways. Donations as small as $25 will go towards important support and these breakthroughs aim to reverse the confronting statistic that *1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer before the age of 85.
