Star of one of Aussie TV's longest running soap, Kate Ritchie, has recently been named as the face of Gatineau - sole distributor of leading French skincare products. So what better way to spend an afternoon than chatting about skincare with TV's golden girl. Ritchie - in a delightfully down to earth manner, is incredibly mature with the upkeep of her appearance - quite amazing when you consider she is just 28. She began her career on the set of Home and Away at the tender age of eight. Fortunately, Ritchie says she did not have to wear makeup at all during the first few years of filming. When she was introduced to the glorious world of makeup, resident makeup artist made sure Ritchie was well versed in how to care for her skin, no matter how late it was Ritchie always had to remove her makeup before getting into bed. To this day Ritchie still has her hair cut, coloured and treated by the Home and Away on set hairdresser. At home she uses Goldwell and Toni and Guy products. People are always very envious of Ritchie's lustrous hair but she said it is a bit of a curse in winter when it takes so long to dry! A few years ago Ritchie decided she should create a long-term plan for her skin, as there is no harsher critic than the camera. She discovered Gatineau skin care range through a friend and fell in love. Ritchie loved it so much, that she landed the spokesperson role for the brand. Nothing revitalises her more than a Gatineau facial and aims to have one every two weeks. She uses two of the brand's cleansers, which have been especially developed for removing makeup and at the same time rebalances the skin. Ritchie alternates the Gatineau Moderactive Gel makeup remover or the Gatineau Almond depending on how her skin is feeling. Ritchie also uses the Gatineau revitalising Cream Moisturising Rich often wearing the Gatineau Absolute Concentrate Active Hydration Smooth facial Gel, underneath, for an extra boost of moisture. Ritchie said she really noticed the difference in her skin after using Gatineau products after only a few weeks. When she gets a spot as she every girl occasionally does, she hits it straight away with the Gatineau Mateliance SOS stick, which gets rid of it in a flash. Ritchie likes the fact that the range is so comprehensive and feels confident it will cope with any changes in her skin that the years will bring. Ritchie remains loyal to all of her makeup brands. Between Giorgio Armani and MAC she finds all her makeup and colour needs full-filled. She uses Max factor mascara, which she discards after three months to avoid eye infections, (just one of the tips given to her from the on set makeup artists). To give her body some extra colour she always uses St. Tropez self tanner, which she says looks very natural - she has firm ideas about not sunbaking. Ritchie does emphasise that all of these products are complemented by a healthy lifestyle. Another of her beauty tips is to drink 10-12 glasses of water a day, especially during winter. And topped off with Chanel Allure fragrance. She has worn this fragrance for many years and is the only fragrance she wears. People are always telling her how good she smells so it must be doing its job she says. Her final beauty tip is to always wear mascara and some blusher on the apples of the cheeks, for an instant ‘pick-me-up'.
