I've just got off a nine hour flight from Sydney, and as I sit at Honolulu airport waiting for my connecting flight to Kauai island, the $2 massage chair is looking increasingly appealing. But I'm saving myself for something far better.
Situated within the beautiful Marriott Resort and Beach Spa on the Hawaiian island of Kauai, is the Alexander Day Spa and Salon. There is no better way to shake off the cobwebs of your long hall flight than with a beach cabana massage at the Alexander Day Spa. It's the perfect start to a relaxing tropical holiday with the sound of the surf and gentle ocean breezes. It all seems very cliché, like something out of a holiday brochure, but that's just what it is. And it's amazing. For the next hour or so I experience a sensory journey through a combination of essential oils and light Swedish massage to relax the mind and cleanse the body. It really does the trick - I feel so serene and limber and ready to start my tropical island adventure! Hawaiian Airlines flies from Sydney to Hawaii, and Kauai Island is a short 35 minute flight from Honolulu. Known as the garden island, it's also the oldest of the Hawaiian islands and the location for blockbusters such as Jurassic Park and the TV program Lost. With its stunning landscape and relaxed atmosphere Kauai is well worth a visit. Compared with the hustle and bustle of Waikiki, Kauai's Alexander Day Spa and Salon is quite literally a paradise. How much: US $115 for a 50 minute massage, plus tax and gratuity |
