anti-ageingBoost your skin and combat the effects of ageing with Seruderm - a new anti-ageing serum specially designed to relax wrinkles and rehydrate the skin.

In the quest to quash the effects of ageing, the world of beauty and cosmetics presents an alluring world of pretty packaging and sweet smells. But for many of us, products without active ingredients to banish lines and rejuvenate the skin simply don't provide the help we need. Sydney cosmetic physician Dr Peter Bakaric says that if you ask any one of his regular patients, they would cite skincare as one of their most coveted sources for global anti-ageing effects.

‘There is definitely a need for quality medical information amongst the hype of cosmetics, particularly what works and doesn't work in skincare,' says Dr Bakaric. ‘In Australia especially, good skincare is important, and the most effective aspect of good skincare is its ability to rehydrate the skin.'

In a bid to find a product that his patients could use between visits, Dr Bakaric met with a team of cosmetic chemists to sort the wheat from the chaff in terms of cosmetic ingredients. ‘Among the many benign ingredients found in expensively packaged products on the market today, we devised a shortlist of the active ingredients which we found produced noticeable improvements to the skin,' he says. ‘Out of this extensive process, Seruderm was born.'

Anti-ageing beauty serum Seruderm seeks to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and improve skin quality using active skin agents, including the new wrinkle-reducing cosmetic ingredient Snap-8. ‘Finding ingredients which mimic the hydrating effect of dermal filler and Botox treatments was essential to the development of Seruderm, which we saw in the formulas Snap-8 and Xpertmoist, and in the ingredient hyaluronic acid,' says Dr Bakaric.

‘Snap-8 has been proven to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and is the closest effect I have seen to Botox in a topical form,' he continues. ‘Patients are aware that if you want to help your muscles relax, you can't beat the injection. But having a topical product that can be applied daily and simulate this effect on a much smaller scale is valuable in its own right.'

Formulated with hyaluronic acid to prevent moisture loss in the skin and the Xpertmoist formula for extreme moisturisation, Seruderm works to penetrate the deeper layers of the skin to target the source of the skin's ageing and promote skin cell renewal. ‘Nothing can absorb into the deeper layers of the skin effectively without a hydrated base,' says Dr Bakaric. ‘Seruderm has been specifically designed to optimise the penetration of Snap-8 into the deeper layers of the skin using proven hydrating ingredients such as glycerin. Adding lactic acid into the mix lightly exfoliates the skin to allow these moisturising agents to do their work.'

Dr Bakaric recommends using a small amount of Seruderm every night before bed, concentrating on the eye area. ‘Seruderm works best at night while the skin isn't exposed to environmental factors, and can also be used on the hands and neck,' he says. ‘But for the best results, using Seruderm in the morning underneath your daily moisturiser for the first two weeks will help kick-start the skin's rejuvenation.'

While injectable treatments are becoming one of the biggest areas of growth for cosmetic clinics, Dr Bakaric says Seruderm provides a completely non-invasive and gentle anti-ageing option. ‘Many of my patients are looking for something that will nourish the exterior of the skin to enhance the results of their injectable treatments, and many are looking for something to enhance their natural glow,' he says. ‘Seruderm has been specially designed to achieve both.' acsm
